So this week’s topic will be somewhat atypical to what you’re used to.
Well I’m glad you asked and it was not us telling you that! :P
Prototyping and testing engines using C is tough. Like really tough.
Most of our time is spent working on the engine and tools needed to even start being able to play around (think: map editor, animation editor, collision + hit box engine).
We’ve decided to give ImpactJS a try (CrossCode, an amazing game, was programmed in HTML5).
So far so good: prototyping is not only fast but the game runs very well on the browser.
So, w-what about our classic consoles?
Don’t throw them away yet! We still love to support them but the best way for everyone to be able to play something made by us is through more accessible ways — both for you (it’s easy to open a browser window) and for us (check the stream and you’ll see how fast we can prototype on JS).
Times have changed slightly. It would be years before you could insert our next game onto your Dreamcast, and that leaves a huge gap between you and us.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our stream to know when we’ll be online and to test it out too!
Oh, and please share with us any favorite HTML5 2D pixel art games that we can use as inspiration :)
